I'm sure this video has been posted on untold amounts of blogs since it first arrived on YouTube, including mine. It's worthy of a second post though. Until now the first part of this short programme about the foundations of Jazz was missing.
I applaud that the orchestral section has finally been revealed but look closely at the rhythm section's right-arm movements. The editor of the video has synchronised the moving pictures one beat too slow (or fast, is it possible to tell which?). I can forgive a mistake like this in a video made using editing equipment of 1939, but so many modern videos also employ this erroneous technique. Would contemporary editors kindly note that this has not gone unnoticed, the accent of the beat should correspond with the accented pick stroke. I'd suggest to any editors reversing this to sell their guitars immediately.
